Models for Cooperation and Participation on a Local Level

2011-11-22

The Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation published ECNL's paper "Models for Cooperation and Participation on Local Level: a Comparative Overview" in Macedonian. The publication was developed by Eszter Hartay and Katerina Hadzi-Miceva Evans.

The aim of the publication is to introduce the existing models that promote cooperation and inclusion, and highlight how they can contribute to a better cross-sectoral partnership and an effective collaboration and involvement of citizens and civil society organizations (CSOs) in the local decision-making processes and activities of local governments.

Initially, the publication provides an overview of the main European documents on CSO-local government cooperation as a compass for national legislation. Secondly, the publication reviews the current state of cooperation in five countries - two European Union (England and Hungary) countries and three countries in the Balkans (Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina).

The analysis makes an effort to introduce models which may be successfully adopted in the practice of the local governments.

The publication was made possible by the generous support of the European Union. It is available in English and in Macedonian.
