USAID's 15th Edition of CSO Sustainability Index for CEE and Eurasia Released

15/07/2012

USAID recently published the 15th edition of its CSO Sustainability Index for Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Together with Management Systems International Inc., the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law is pleased to have served as the project manager for this USAID publication. The index reports on the strength and overall viability of CSO sectors in each of the 29 countries in the region, from the Baltics to Central Asia.

From USAID's website:

In 2011 changes in CSO sector sustainability reflected the overall negative economic situation across the world. CSO capabilities were also significantly influenced by political developments, both domestic and international. On the domestic front, many countries held national elections in 2011 that shaped the environment in which CSOs operate. Internationally, the EU continues to be a major player throughout the region, with accession negotiations in the Southern Tier often opening up possibilities for CSO input into the policy process.
